BRIEF PROFILE OF MYSELF:

I have been a trainer/tutor since 1986 teaching English, Malay and Indonesian to adults and children. I started teaching English to adult

Indonesians in Jakarta from 1986 to 1992.

Due to my years of living in Indonesia, interaction with Indonesians and the fact that I am already proficient in Malay Language (Bahasa Melayu),

which is the source and basis of Bahasa Indonesia itself, I am able to teach both Malay and Indonesian Languages.

I adopt a Situational-Communicative Approach to language teaching. It is suitable for a learner who wants a communicative ability in the

target language and wants it from the very day that he starts to learn. This approach is suitable for those attending crash courses of limited

duration in a language of which they have no or little previous knowledge. There will be predictions of the situations in which the learner is

likely to operate through the target language.

I was also active in grassroots organisations in Marsiling holding the following positions from 1997 to 2017:

Vice-Chairman, Fuchun CC Management Committee, Chairman, Fuchun CC Malay Activity Executive Committee Member of Marsiling Citizens' Consultative Committee; Chairman, Marsiling CCC's Publicity & PR Committee, Chairman, Marsiling Zone 7 Residents' Committee Sembawang Town Councillor.

I have organised numerous events for grassroots organisations. I was awarded The Public Service Medal or Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (PBM)

In pursuit of my academic interest, I have enrolled as a Ph.D student at National University of Malaysia (UKM).

Hobbies......coaching soccer, organising events for youngsters, watching news on TV, attending interesting courses, gardening, reading

Likes......polite and considerate people, involving in some social work, travelling on vacation, karaoke singing, exotic Indonesian foods

Dislikes......rude and inconsiderate people
